Meet the Captain

I’m Fernando, an adventurer with a focus on safety, originally from Buenos Aires. After studying Economics in Manchester and exploring diverse roles worldwide, including selling wines in Hong Kong and enjoying a seven-year stay in Canada after a ski trip, life led me back to Panama via a road trip to Patagonia.

For the past three years, BouMou has been both my home and a dream realized. As the Captain and owner, I invite like-minded individuals to share this unique journey. Trained in various capacities, from Mountain Search and Rescue to ski instruction, racing coaching, Yoga instruction, and Sea Shepherd, my ultimate goal is to circumnavigate the globe.

Join me in experiencing every aspect of living aboard BouMou, from skippering the vessel to cooking, cleaning, and participating in maneuvers. We all lend a hand, help, and take turns, making this journey a shared dream and adventure.

A BouMou Odyssey: A Global Expedition

Initially, I anticipated three months of preparation when I acquired the boat, but I encountered more damage and challenges than expected. Acknowledging my need for additional experience, the past three years have been dedicated to relentless work and continuous learning to prepare both the boat and myself for the upcoming adventure.

The plan involves spending this summer in San Blas/Kuna Yala, welcoming guests to share the sailboat living experience in Paradise. Activities include island hopping, snorkeling, and exploring white sand beaches and deserted islands. Post-season, we aim to explore the Caribbean, possibly visiting Jamaica, the Bahamas, or Cuba. Subsequently, we'll cross the canal, venture into the Pacific, and explore destinations like Galapagos, Marquesas, Polynesia, Tuamotu, Bora Bora, Tahiti, Cook Islands, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Fiji, and New Caledonia.

The overarching goal is to sail and explore. As for visiting, friends and guests are welcome for island hopping, while ocean crossings and tight navigation are reserved for experienced sailors due to the associated responsibilities. For any inquiries, please don't hesitate to ask.
